Classification of organic pigments

How are organic pigments classified? Pigments made from colored organic compounds are called organic pigments. A class of pigments made of organic compounds that have color and a range of other pigment characteristics. The characteristics of the pigment include light resistance, water resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, organic solvent resistance, heat resistance, crystal stability, dispersion and hiding power. The difference between organic pigment and dye is that it has no affinity with the colored object, and only the organic pigment is attached to the surface of the object by adhesive or film-forming material, or mixed inside the object, so that the object is colored. The intermediates, production equipment and synthesis process required for its production are similar to the production of dyes, so organic pigments are often organized in the dye industry. Compared with general inorganic pigments, organic pigments usually have higher tinting strength, particles are easy to grind and disperse, not easy to precipitate, and the color is bright, but the light resistance, heat resistance and weather resistance are poor. Organic pigments are widely used in ink, paint, rubber products, plastic products, stationery and building materials and other materials coloring.

According to the structure classification: (1) azo pigment 59% (2) phthalocyanine pigment 24% (3) triarylmethane pigment 8% (4) special pigment 6% (5) polycyclic pigment 3%

Organic pigments have bright colors and strong coloring power; the density is small and non-toxic, but some varieties of light resistance, heat resistance, solvent resistance and migration resistance are often inferior to inorganic pigments. The variety of colors is endless and colorful, but there is a certain internal relationship between the various colors. Each color can be determined by three parameters, namely hue, lightness and saturation.

Tone is the color of the characteristics of the difference between each other, determined by the color spectrum of the light source and the surface of the object emitted by the wavelength of the human eye to produce the feeling, can distinguish red, yellow, green, blue, purple and other characteristics. Brightness, also known as brightness, is the characteristic value that indicates the change of brightness and darkness on the surface of an object. By comparing the brightness of various colors, the color has the distinction of brightness and darkness.
